Artist Statement

The trio of cylinders were a natural progression from the Lines bowls (2016-7), engaging imagery and memory to evoke a nostalgic feeling of places called home. As such each cylinder depicts one of the three houses that Isabella Edwards currently lives between. The cylinders where thrown on the wheel from porcelain then sanded and painted from memories of these places rather than photos. This painting from memory distils what is important about a home and gives the paintings an essence of nostalgia, illustrating the feeling of the place rather and reality. In addition to the imagery the form and size directly reflects the importance of each home and its importance of each place.
