Artist Statement

This series further endeavours to create a dialogue between a long established drawing practice and a new found interest in the ceramic medium. The tiles were made during life drawing sessions with models using a variety of ceramic techniques from inlay, sgraffito, flashing, carving, drawing, nerikomi and painting. As such the works exists in a state of flux and explores the in-between spaces formed by and the tension between the fleeting nature of life drawing and the permanence of ceramics and the works balance between object and drawing.
