Artist Statement

Place and memory are intrinsically linked both historically and subjectively. Place acts as a site for experience and in turn these experiences are distilled into memory. Thus upon revising a memory we relive site. Through visiting these places again memories are triggered of events that have taken place there. It is through observational drawing that we can revisit memories while inhabiting a place and translate them into images that can produce similar effects. The work itself sits on the borders of drawing and ceramics, memory and place, small histories and grand narratives. Rather than weakened by these dualities the work is strengthened and opened up to more possibilities. Possibilities to connect and inspire narratives within the audience.

The series “Co-Inhabited” was also shown as a part of this exhibition
